`Peeping Tom’ To Be Sentenced On February 1

Bandar Seri Begawan – The Magistrate’s Court yesterday deferred its sentencing for a man charged with outraging the modesty of a 29-year old woman in 2009 to February 1, after the defendant pleaded guilty to the offence. The defendant Hj Muhammad Nasiruddin DP Dr Hj Abdul Latif, is facing three years and fine under the section 509 of the Penal Code, Chapter 22 whereby he had intended to insult the modesty of one Miss X , by filming her in an undressed state without her knowledge, using a USB Spy Camera Pen Video, intending to intrude upon the privacy of the victim.

According to the court document, sometime in the early evening October 6, 2009, the defendant went to his friend, Miss X’s (the victim) house where they were about to go out for a quick meal upon the suggestion of the victim. Hj Muhammad Nasiruddin entered her bedroom bathroom, placed his USB Spy Camera Pen Video on the bathroom sink counter. It was after the victim stepped out from the shower and drying herself when she noticed a blue blinking light coming from the bathroom sink counter. Upon closer inspection, the light had come from a pen. A police report was subsequently lodged two days later at Central Police Station in the capital after she sought advice from various family members. — Courtesy of The Brunei Times
